The PET market for the beverage sector is constantly expanding globally, thanks to its characteristics of lightness, resistance and recyclability. These qualities make PET a privileged choice for the production of bottles and containers, responding to the growing demand for sustainability and convenience from consumers.
Companies in the sector are looking for innovative solutions to improve production efficiency and guarantee high-quality products.
This is the case of QPET, which will be examined in this article, with a focus on the company's growth needs, analysis of the best technologies for the production context and description of the milestones achieved thanks to the partnership with SIPA.
Who is QPET
QPET is a family-run company founded in 1996, specializing in the production and supply of PET preforms and containers.
With facilities in Pietermaritzburg, Johannesburg and Cape Town, QPET produces one of the widest range of preforms in South Africa.
The preforms produced are intended for both internal use of the company and on demand of local and international customers. QPET is increasingly using rPET, obtained from a recycling chain, for the production of preforms for non-food applications.
The initial needs of the company
To meet the production needs of edible oil containers and various preforms, QPET needed reliable and flexible systems.
In particular, the company was looking for solutions that would allow them to produce containers in different formats and specific neck finishes, while ensuring high quality and production flexibility.
The technological solutions identified
To meet these diverse needs, SIPA has proposed the XFORM 350 preform injection systems and linear blow molding systems SFL Performance 4H for the production of containers.
Last year, QPET acquired its first SFL Performance 4H linear blow molding system to produce containers in different formats and neck finishes for edible oil, with bottles ranging from two to five liters.
In the same year, the South African company installed an XFORM 350 preform injection molding system with a 72-cavity mold for the production of various preforms with 1881 neck.
The advantages offered by SIPA
SIPA's SFL system is widely appreciated for its reliability, flexibility and wide process window, in addition to its ability to blow bottles of the highest quality. For XFORM, a key advantage is the capacity to produce two different preforms with only one cold half, a cost-saving feature that few suppliers can offer.
SIPA also has the advantage of having its own team of after-sales engineers permanently based in South Africa. Proximity, rapid response and a group of specialists with specific expertise in injection and blow moulding are extremely relevant factors for QPET.
Results achieved through the partnership
Thanks to the collaboration with SIPA, QPET has been able to improve the efficiency and flexibility of its production, achieving high-quality output.
The ability to produce containers and preforms with precise design features has enabled QPET to respond effectively to market needs, consolidating its position as a leader in the PET sector in South Africa.
This strategic partnership has led to optimized production, costs reduction and improved responsiveness to market demands, demonstrating how technological innovation can support business success.
