SFL, SIPA’s PET blow moulding machine: excellence and flexibility

Written by SIPA | May 21, 2019 11:58:41 AM

For 30 years SIPA has never stopped investing in technological research and innovation to develop new solutions for bottles and preforms production.

The results regard thousands of containers for an ever broader range of applications, from beverage and food products to cosmetics, from detergents to pharmaceutical products.

The success also comes from the fact that SIPA, thanks to its wide range of solutions (preform injection and bottle blowing machines), is able to ensure packaging functionality and optimisation from the preform design to final container, to closures, labels, all the way to secondary packaging and palletisation.

SFL, the blow moulding machine

SFL is a linear blowing system designed by SIPA to offer maximum flexibility when manufacturing a multitude of container types.

The SFL range can produce:

  • standard and customized containers for standard filling and hot filling,
  • oval bottles with or without neck orientation,
  • multilayer bottles,
  • light-weight bottles,
  • small containers for the pharmaceutical industry, as well as large containers up to 30 liters, always granting the highest output per hour.

SFL 6/8, the evolution of the blow moulding machine

SIPA recently launched a new model in its SFL linear blowing system range. The SFL 6/8 EVO PET blow moulding machine is completely electric.

The SFL 6/8 EVO maintains all the technological advantages of the existing SFL 6/6 system while boasting an even better performance: the output is 10% higher, which means a productivity of more than 2000 bottles an hour/cavity thanks to faster press movements and an improved blowing valve.

Greater production combined with a saving in electrical energy and air

The overall performance makes the new SIPA PET blow moulding machine excellent.

In parallel to the SFL 6/8 EVO’s increase in production capacity, the energy consumption in the preform heating phase is lower, with a 25% reduction of the oven pitch, a lower air consumption and a 30% drop of the dead volume.

The SFL 6/8 EVO has a new blowing block and an updated pneumatic circuit.

The blowing pitch is now 100 mm, suitable to blow bottles up to 1.5 L. The new preform transfer system handles the necks more gently.

Another innovative characteristic lies in the new press opening and closing system: activated by a brushless motor.

The stroke of the press may be adjusted directly from the user interface (HMI) according to the container to be blown, thus ensuring greater efficiency and greater flexibility in production.

Particular attention was paid to ergonomics: when developing the SFL 6/8 EVO, the layout was simplified and the HMI was completely renewed.

SFL PET blowing machines, operating excellence and flexibility

"SFL 6/8 EVO is the ideal solution for medium-sized filling lines" Paolo De Nardi, Product Manager SBM at SIPA recently stated. "Thanks to the improved output per hour, the quality of the bottles produced and the low consumptions, it is a very attractive technology for brand owners”.

In case of large converters, it is a bottle blowing machine that offers perfect scalability, allowing them to produce complex packaging with a small and flexible platform.

Furthermore, all the technological innovations we made to the system, together with the low maintenance cost, translate into the lowest TCO in the market, with the objective of ensuring both operating excellence and flexibility".

SFL range offers an improved combination in Sincro Bloc

SIPA also improved the "SINCRO" connection to integrate the blowing and filling phases. Bottles are discharged from the SFL blower by the linear transfer unit equipped with spindles and controlled by brushless motor.

Two similar linear transfer units positioned one in front of the other slide alternatively to pick up one batch of bottles and release them one by one to the first filler wheel without changing the pitch.
